Community Lifestyle Statement
JUMPSTART is for home-educated teenagers who want to grow in their relationship with Jesus and reflect that relationship in their world. Because of individual differences, we have found it necessary to adopt some Rules and a Lifestyle Statement for the Community of people that will come together at JUMPSTART.
Our purpose is to encourage one another and not to offend others. In 1 Corinthians 10:31-33 it says, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Do not cause anyone to stumble…for I am not seeking my own good but the good of many.”
These policies describe the shared commitments that help JUMPSTART remain a respectful, Christ-centred community for the duration of the event. They apply to all leaders and Jumpstarters.
JUMPSTART RULES
By attending JUMPSTART, we are all committed to following these JUMPSTART rules for the duration of the event:
- All Jumpstarters and leaders must take part in the required daily activities, including teaching sessions, discussion groups, worship/devotions, and scheduled activities.
- Exceptions must be approved by a JUMPSTART leader, who will respond appropriately based on the need.
JUMPSTART COMMUNITY LIFESTYLE STATEMENT
- I will follow and respect the instructions of staff and leaders.
- I will treat everyone with respect, love, and forgiveness.
- I acknowledge that JUMPSTART is drug- and alcohol-free; therefore, I will not use alcohol or drugs of any kind during JUMPSTART.
- I will not swear or use offensive language at JUMPSTART.
- I will take part in the required daily activities.
- I am committed to following the JUMPSTART dress code.
- I agree with the JUMPSTART Community Lifestyle Statement and will live this way during the JUMPSTART event. I understand that this is an agreement before God, not just people. If these expectations are not followed, leaders will respond with care and appropriate accountability based on the seriousness of the situation, which may include informing my parent or guardian and being removed from active JUMPSTART participation.
JUMPSTART Dress Code
By attending JUMPSTART, we are all committed to following the JUMPSTART dress code for the duration of the event.
- Tops must provide appropriate coverage and should not be see-through, low-cut, or expose the midriff.
- Clothing and accessories must not display offensive text or graphics, including drug-related, fascist, violent, sexual, or occult-related messages.
- Undergarments should be worn and not visible.
- Shorts, skirts and dresses must be at least mid-thigh in length.
- Trousers must be worn at the waist.
We encourage everyone to choose clothing that is respectful, modest, and considerate of others. If a leader needs to speak with you about changing or adjusting your clothing, please receive that guidance in the supportive spirit intended. If you are unsure whether something is appropriate, please ask your coach or another leader.
Bottom line: Dress to bless, not to impress!
